medRxiv posts medical and public-health research before peer review, which makes it useful for a notebook tracking a fast-moving clinical question close to real time, ahead of the months or years a journal review can take. The tradeoff is that nothing on it has been vetted yet, so a notebook drawing on medRxiv papers should flag them as preprints rather than treating the findings as settled the way a published journal article would be.
