The Library of Congress digitizes manuscripts, historic newspapers, maps, and photographs straight from its own holdings as the US national library, so a notebook built on it works from scans of the actual period documents rather than someone's summary of them. Its Chronicling America newspaper archive is a particularly strong source for historical research grounded in contemporary reporting. Not everything has a clean transcription, so older handwritten material may need extra scrutiny of the scan itself rather than relying on OCR text.
