Supreme Court Opinions

Law & governmentfree

Every US Supreme Court slip opinion straight from the Court, as free PDFs. Primary-source material that grounds legal research better than commentary.

These are the Court's own words on a case, which grounds a legal-research notebook in primary source material instead of a journalist's or blogger's summary of the ruling. Free PDFs come straight from supremecourt.gov. The opinions are written in dense legal language, so a notebook built only from slip opinions may need a secondary explainer alongside them to make sense of the reasoning.
