ERIC is the US Department of Education's own index and pulls in conference papers and technical reports alongside journal articles, so it surfaces practitioner-level material — classroom methods, program evaluations — that a journal database alone might miss. Coverage skews toward the US, and because not everything indexed is peer-reviewed, the quality of individual documents varies more than in a pure journal database.
