The St. Louis Fed's collection of 800,000+ economic time series. Series pages document sources and revisions — solid grounding for macro research.
Each of FRED's 800,000-plus series comes with documentation on its source, exact definition and revision history, which lets a notebook cite precisely how a macro number like GDP or CPI is calculated rather than just the headline figure. It's the default starting point for US and major-economy time series questions, but coverage of smaller economies is sparse.
