Long-run GDP per capita estimates stretching back two millennia. Download the Excel release and upload it when a notebook needs hard numbers on economic history.

The Maddison Project estimates GDP per capita reaching back roughly two thousand years, maintained by economic historians continuing Angus Maddison's original work, which makes it close to the only source with numbers that far back for a notebook on long-run economic growth or historical comparison. The Excel release uploads directly as a dataset. The further back the estimates go, the more they rest on sparse historical records, so figures for ancient or medieval periods should be treated as rough orders of magnitude, not precise numbers.
