Macroeconomic outlooks and country reports — the Article IV PDFs are dense, citable source material.

An Article IV report is the IMF staff's annual assessment of a single country's economy, and reading a few years of them in sequence shows how a government's fiscal position changed year to year, not just how it was reported. The WEO database behind it is a standard reference point for cross-country growth and inflation figures. The prose is written for economists, dense with acronyms and technical assumptions, so it rewards a notebook built to explain jargon rather than just summarize it.
