Search US demographic, housing, and business tables. Export a table or import a topic profile page to ground population and market-sizing questions.

data.census.gov holds the American Community Survey and Economic Census tables that answer market-sizing and demographic questions down to the county or tract level, which fits anything comparing a metro area's population, income, or housing stock. Because the table IDs and filters aren't intuitive, importing a topic profile page tends to work better in a notebook than a raw multi-column export. It's the closest thing to an official population count for the US, but comparisons across census years need care around boundary and definition changes.
