Census microdata from 100+ countries recoded into consistent variables. Free with registration; the variable documentation pages make useful sources.
IPUMS recodes census microdata from more than a hundred countries into a shared set of variable definitions, which is the main reason researchers use it instead of wrestling with each country's raw census release separately. That makes it well suited to a notebook comparing demographic or household patterns across countries or over time. Access to the microdata needs free registration, but the variable documentation pages are open and detailed enough to ground a notebook on their own.
