DOAJ vets journals against real editorial standards before listing them, so it's the fastest way to check whether an open-access journal is legitimate rather than a paper mill. That makes it a good gate to run a source through before you build a notebook around it. One limit: it indexes journals, not individual articles, so you still have to search inside each title for the paper you need.
