Its index spans journal articles, theses, preprints and grey literature across every discipline, which makes it the right first stop when you don't yet know which specific database covers your topic. Citation counts and 'cited by' links help you judge how much a paper shaped later work before you commit to reading it. It mostly indexes metadata rather than hosting full text, so plan on following its links to a publisher or repository copy before importing.
